“The best climber in the world is the one who’s having the most fun.” -Alex Lowe

If you are looking for climbing photos I may have taken of you outside, CLICK HERE.

The climbing photos I take are of my friends, other climbers met out at the crag on weekend trips, and competition climbers at events I attend. The landscape photos range from the vast skies of Albuquerque, New Mexico to the granite walls of Yosemite, California. All of my photos can be found on my Flickr.

More recently, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Jessica Noviello on a photojournalism project at the 2018 Lunar and Planetary Society Conference. This project resulted in a series of during-interview portraits depicting the everyday scientists at LPSC.

Like the photos? Feel free to tip me!

I fund my hobby out of my own pocket, if you want to help me upgrade my gear or be able to afford some really amazing photography clinics with professionals, please feel free to tip me! I appreciate it a lot!

Photo Licenses (CC-BY) & (CC-BY-NC)

I typically list my photos under a creative commons license of attribution (CC-BY). This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon my work, even commercially, as long as they credit me for the original creation. To credit me, just place a reference in the same general location of the photo(s) using any of these (for brochure/pamphlet, just put one reference at the end/back, for a website list it anywhere on the website):
(CC-BY) L.E. Heffern
(CC-BY) Lena Heffern
@leenuh_hlfernan (for instagram or twitter, caption)
Or my logo:

There are exceptions to my license, for social justice events I do not allow commercial use (CC-BY-NC). For more personal photos (outdoor climbers, friends, grad pics, etc.) I also list under license of attribution noncommercial (CC-BY-NC). For photos of minors I do not allow commercial use unless there is a signed consent form from a parent/guardian through the company that plans to use the photo(s) and I do not allow distribution unless photos were taken in a public place. Feel free to send me an email if you’d like to purchase the rights to any photos.
