Study of ZrW2O8 Metal-Oxygen Peaks – BS Thesis

My senior undergraduate thesis is titled Study of ZrW2O8 Metal-Oxygen Peaks through EXAFS Analysis. I examined negative thermal expansion crystals; materials that get smaller as they get hotter. The lab I worked in specialized in skutterudites and colossal magnetoresistance materials. I also had the opportunity to use extended X-ray absorption fine structure analysis (EXAFS) at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center to collect data.

At low temperatures the Einstein model is seen to fit poorly in the low temperature range, as opposed to the Debye model.
